#GiveLocal and #Give2020 to Transform Our Community!

The Big Give SA is May 3rd! And we are so, so excited.

The Big Give SA is a 24-hour day of giving that’s all about community and engagement. As a part of Give Local America, supported locally by the San Antonio Area Foundation and The Nonprofit Council, the Big Give highlights 1,051 San Antonio and surrounding area non-profits. Community members are encouraged to give to the causes they care about, find new organizations to support, and spread the word about their support. Last year, The Big Give SA raised an incredible $4.3 million for charitable organizations in South Central Texas. This year, they’ve raised the bar with a goal of $6 million!

What is The Big Give?

At SA2020, we love seeing how The Big Give transforms our city. For 24 hours, San Antonio is a flurry of giving, saying thank you, and celebrating. In a community that said civic engagement and philanthropy are important goals, The Big Give is the perfect illustration of what that involvement can look like. And, long after The Big Give ends, the millions of dollars raised will continue to transform the participating organizations and San Antonio as a whole.

When we participate in the Big Give we are truly #strongertogether as a community. Because SA2020 is the non-profit working towards our collective, community vision, we’re encouraging everyone to #Give2020 on May 3rd: for every $20 you give to SA2020, find one of our incredible Partners and give another $20 to them!

SA2020 works to track our community’s progress toward our vision, and we use that data to provide targeted community interventions. Our Partners are a huge part of these interventions and the progress that San Antonio is making. By supporting one—or several—of these organizations during The Big Give, you’ll be helping them continue to create great progress in our city towards our community vision.

SA2020 and SAYL

In addition to reporting the numbers, connecting groups and people to find solutions, and supporting our Partners, SA2020 also engages the community. We host and endorse community events to help people connect with and realize our community vision. In 2015 we reached over 80,000 people, another 8,500 people through community presentations and 30,000 through social media.

If you’re one of those followers, or were one of the attendees at a SA2020 event or presentation, we encourage you to pledge to #Give2020 on May 3rd. A gift to SA2020 will allow us to connect more people and provide intentional interventions on the areas that need the most help. A gift to a Partner will ultimately help us realize our community vision. Join us to support the collaborations that will help us reach our 2020 vision.

Join SA2020—and some of our Partners—at some of our favorite local spots on May 2nd and 3rd. Celebrate our Big Give kickoff at Paramour, grab your morning coffee at Rosella, take a lunch break at Green, and join us at our Friendly Spot closing party. There will be some great incentives, and we’ll be around to talk more about SA2020, The Big Give, and #Give2020.
