SA2020 uses the yearly census data (12-months of estimates) in its annual update in order to report and compare the data year to year. According to the annual data, there was a 9% increase in households with computer and broadband internet subscription between 2019 and 2021.
SA2020's City Council Profiles use the 5-year Census data (60-months of estimates), which do not show the same level of progress as the annual data shown here. These profiles show broadband connectivity by Council district.
This indicator measures whether a household has a computer and a broadband subscription. This indicator does not measure the ability to use or afford the technology, which are also critical pieces of digital inclusion.
In September 2021, SA Digital Connects, a public-private-community partnership, launched a plan for digital equity in Bexar County. The plan estimates an investment of $500 – $600 million to close the digital divide by December 2024.
