The number of people living in San Antonio's downtown region has remained relatively stagnant over the last several years.
In 2019, the Downtown Regional Center Plan was adopted by San Antonio City Council as one component of a larger City of San Antonio Comprehensive Plan. Plans for the City's 13 Regional Centers—like that for the downtown region—are intended to provide a more coordinated, efficient, and effective structure for neighborhood planning.
As more businesses move to remote or hybrid work environments, more residential developments are built, and UTSA grows its downtown campus, it will remain critical to understand who is living in the downtown area and how the costs of living compare to other neighborhoods.
