Woodlawn Theatre presents Rock of Ages, an insanely funny, rock and roll fairy tale of 80s classic rock and big dreams. Rock of Ages is set in the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood where the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock and roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip–and themselves–before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar and more hold the answer.
Directed by Christopher Rodriguez, Rock of Ages opened February 5th at Woodlawn Theatre and immediately became all the rage, bringing the theatre to life with a live rock band on stage, the best local talent, a beautifully designed set, and the ultimate 80s rock mix-tape.

The Woodlawn Theatre, a non-profit, is devoted to providing quality entertainment and reacquainting the community with theatre, all while supporting local artists. Rock of Ages is yet another example of the great programming Woodlawn Theatre regularly brings to San Antonio.
