What you can do for National Voter Registration Day

Tomorrow, Sept. 22nd is National Voter Registration Day! Tomorrow, national efforts will coordinate around registering voters to help make sure no one is left out of the democratic process.

And while voter registration is essential to the process, SA2020 measures Voter Turnout as an indicator of success for our vision for Civic Engagement.

What SA2020 and SA2020 Partners see in our local data is a gap between registration and turnout — even though our people might be registered, many aren’t making it to the polls.

So this year for National Voter Registration Day, SA2020 wants to get the word out to everyone. Not just unregistered voters. We obviously want unregistered residents to register to vote. Duh. We ALSO want registered voters to take this opportunity to commit to voting in the next election, and encourage others to actually get to the polls. Because registration is the logistical requirement, but voting is the civic engagement part. Voting is what helps our officials more representative and responsive to our people. Voting is what matters most.
