Over 5,000 join Any Baby Can for Official Fiesta® Walk for Autism

start line

On April 18, over 5,000 people joined Any Baby Can of San Antonio at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta at the AT&T Center. The Official Fiesta® San Antonio Event featured the 11th Annual Walk for Autism, live music, mariachi bands, food, activities for all, and new this year, the Superhero 5K Run. This annual event offers something for the entire family. The event was attended by manyspecial guests including Senator Carlos Uresti who served as Rey Familia of Any Baby Can’s Fiesta.

Any Baby Can’s annual Fiesta event is created around one goal—to provide an opportunity for the community to come together to raise awareness and provide greater support for families raising individuals with autism and other special health care needs as well as families who have lost a child. As a result, Any Baby Can is proud to bring the community an expanded event that will notonly provide greater awareness and help support programs available at Any Baby Can, but will give back to other organizations and individuals throughout the community, helping us reach our SA2020 vision for a community with safer, healthier, and stronger families.Roo's Crew

“For more than 30 years, Any Baby Can has served families who have children with various disabilities or who have lost a child, and the expansion of our Fiesta event will now better reflect the true range of the families we serve,” said Hugo Hernandez, COO of Any Baby Can. “Any Baby Can believes in inclusion and our updated Fiesta event speaks to that wholeheartedly.”

“The 11th Annual Walk for Autism is the largest component of our Fiesta event and the new format will provide more opportunities for autism awareness. Any Baby Can’s Fiesta will be a family-friendly event, allowing all families and children to feel included and supported.”

Any Baby Can’s Fiesta continues to be avenues for families to gain resources that provide support and education and the resource fair at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta did just that. 96 organizations participated in the one-stop shop providing information on therapy, financial planning and products for children and adults with special health care needs. Other organizations that provided activities include; The DoSeum, Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Caravan, the San Antonio Library Literacy Caravan and the Alamo Colleges Mobile GO Center.

5K run startOther fun activities and interactives included inflatable bouncers, puppies from the Animal Defense League—all dogs found a loving home, tricycles from Monarch Academy and a special area called Rudy’s Playground—a space where organizations provided adaptive activities for individuals of all ages and abilities. On top of the Fiesta® décor, attendees enjoyed breakfast tacos, sausage wraps and other traditional Fiesta foods.

A returning favorite at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta was Fiesta de Los Jefes. Fiesta de Los Jefes featured 26 interactive displays and community programs from the San Antonio Fire Department and San Antonio Police Department. It’s a great opportunity for families to learn about items such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT), fire safety and more.
