On July 4th, 2015, Style Lush TV, San Antonio’s online fashion network, turned one year old. Throughout this year we have always ended the workday by reflecting on how we served our fashion community and the “City on the Rise” mission. We always strive to contribute to our great community and help reach the SA2020 goals for a thriving arts community, and as long as we have at least one example of how we served, it has been a productive workday.
Upon our first inspection of the fashion community, it was very evident that there was an enormous amount of us. The only problem was that we were all peppered throughout the city. There was no central media hub dedicated to showcasing our fashion community and bringing us all together. That is what Style Lush TV has provided, a central place where not only the fashion community can go to, but also the city, for more information about our local fashion scene, events, fashion entertainment and high fashion trend reports.
The San Antonio Fashion Awards idea happened very organically. As you can imagine, during this year, we started to feel that it wasn’t enough to just report on the fashion community. There had to be a way to formally celebrate all of the hard work. There also had to be a way to acknowledge individuals whose inventive thinking, talent and work ethic help propel our fashion industry into the next generation of excellence, and so, the San Antonio Fashion Awards was born.
The San Antonio Fashion Awards season consists of three phases, Nominations, Voting and the Ceremony. The first phase will launch July 1st at SanAntonioFashionawards.com. Although there are 3 nominees already set in place, Style Lush TV believes in community involvement. San Antonio is encouraged to voice their opinions for the 4th position on the voting list. The nomination phase lasts all month long to ensure that as many people in the community have the opportunity to nominate.
The second phase is voting. There will be a total of 4 nominees on the voting list and the community will again, voice their opinions at SanAntonioFashionAwards.Com. The Categories for the San Antonio Fashion Awards this year are the following: Local Retailer of the Year, Make Up Innovator of the Year, Hair Innovator of the Year, Magazine Layout of the Year, Fashion Blogger of the Year, Best Fashion Event of the Year, Model of the Year, Fashion Stylist of the Year, Fashion-Artist of the Year, Best Menswear Designer and Best Womanswear Designer.
Finally, the third phase is the groundbreaking award ceremony. It will be held October 10th, at the Tobin Center on the beautiful River Walk Plaza in front of the presenting screen. Councilman Roberto Trevino, will be presenting the proclamation for the evening. Dress code for the San Antonio fashion Awards is “Oscars Glamour” or Avant-Garde”. It will be an unforgettable evening of red carpet fashion, live entertainment and of course, the Oscars-like ceremony in which the winners will be presented their awards and have the opportunity to thank their supporters on stage. It is sure to be an unforgettable evening of fashion, style and community.
