Mala Luna Music Festival returns to San Antonio on Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29 of Halloween weekend. The inaugural festival welcomed 30,000 people for the sold out, two-day fest and has moved to the Nelson Wolff Stadium parking lot to accommodate the growing support going into the second year.
This year, artists performing include Future, whose recent albums Future and HNDRXX both premiered at number one on the Billboard 200; Wiz Khalifa, who himself was recently nominated for Song Of The Year at the 2016 Grammy Awards for the worldwide sensation “See You Again,” and whose music video has since gone on to be named the most viewed video ever on YouTube with over nearly 3 billion views; Lil Wayne, whose Carter album series and notoriously popular mixtapes made him one of the most highly lauded artists in hip-hop history; Migos, whose sophomore album, the platinum-selling Culture, also topped the Billboard 200 chart earlier this year boosted in large part by the smash hits “Bad and Boujee”, “T-Shirt”, and “Slippery.”
Additional performing artists include internationally renowned dance musicians Afrojack, Carnage and Borgore. R&B artists Khalid, whose debut album American Teen is one of the biggest albums as of late, and Kali Uchis, who recently released “Tyrant,” the first single from her highly-anticipated debut album, will be performing plus internet sensations Playboi Carti, Ugly God and Smokepurpp.
Houston’s Trae Tha Truth and Maxo Kream, J.I.D, who recently signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville imprint, and San Antonio’s Xavier Omär will nicely round out the lineup. Finally, local artists Intre, Bamsworth Belli, Izaq Roland, Lil Yodaa will be representing for San Antonio with additional performances from NYA artists Rayne and Isabella Rodriguez.
Mala Luna is proud to announce a continued partnership with Network for Young Artists (NYA), in which Mala Luna will donate a portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold to the San Antonio-based organization. NYA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides affordable classes in voice, guitar, percussion, keyboard, and dance for San Antonio-area youth ages 4-20.
Mala Luna also will feature local artists and food. We look forward to seeing you at the festival October 28 and 29! For tickets and info on the festival, please visit www.malaluna.com
