When we released our newest Impact Report, we also wanted to remind San Antonians that they can make an impact on our community vision every single day. So, we launched 300 Ways to Make an Impact in celebration of our city’s 300th birthday! At SA2020.org/300, you can find 300 simple (and even fun) opportunities to move the needle on our shared goals. When you commit to one (or several) of these, SA2020 will send you reminders and helpful information to take action. And while there are opportunities to get involved throughout the year, we think February’s the perfect time to show San Antonio a little extra love.
This month, you can make an impact in the following ways (we like to think of them as valentines for San Antonio):
See Common Currents
Common Currents is the story of San Antonio’s 300-year history as told by 300 local artists. Six different venues will host six exhibits, each focused on 50 years of history, through the Tricentennial Commemorative Week. Exhibitions at both Artpace and Blue Star Contemporary are open in February! Celebrate San Antonio’s arts scene while learning more about our past. Win-win.
Take the Parks and Recreation survey
What would you like to see in San Antonio’s parks system? Let Parks and Recreation know! Take the survey to help develop the accessible, recreational parks that we imagined together. Then, take advantage of San Antonio’s wonderful weather by heading out to a park, whether it’s your usual favorite or one you’ve never visited before.
Clean up San Antonio’s waterways
Basura Bash, now in its 24th year, is the largest single-day waterway clean-up in Texas. And in a city where our river means so much, we all have a responsibility to pitch in. Sign up for this year’s Basura Bash on February 17th—and bring some friends or family members.
Hear from your neighbors at PechaKucha
PechaKucha gives San Antonians the opportunity to share their passions in a unique and engaging 7-minute format. On February 20th, hear from artistic directors, a songwriter, a photojournalist, and more. Click here to get your tickets for PechaKucha Vol. 29 at the Magik Theatre.
Get your Philanthropitch ticket
At San Antonio’s first Philanthropitch event, local nonprofits will pitch innovative solutions to community challenges. Your ticket adds to the funding available, and you’ll even get to cast a vote to decide which organizations wins the audience choice award. Come support the organizations that spend their days working to strengthen our community! Buy tickets here.
This is just a list to get you started. Head over to 300 Ways to Make an Impact to find 296 more opportunities to show some love to San Antonio and make a difference on our shared vision.
