We celebrated SA2020’s 7th birthday on September 25th the best way we know how: by welcoming 6 new board members to our ranks! The newest members of the SA2020 team come from different areas of San Antonio and lines of work, The newest members of the SA2020 team come from different areas of San Antonio and lines of work, further strengthening our board. This passionate group, which includes attorneys, consultants, a small business owner, education and health leaders, corporate professionals, helps guide SA2020’s strategy—especially as we approach 2020. (Because, in case you haven’t heard, we’re sticking around.)

Jordana Barton, Senior Advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
Don’t let “Dallas” confuse you—Jordana lives and works in San Antonio and is dedicated to advancing her community. She’s specifically focused on economic development and has led community convenings and researching to share more of San Antonio’s progress and challenges with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Jordana is excited to serve with the SA2020 Board, because, she says, “I want to work with our community to ensure that San Antonio is a place of opportunity and inclusion.”
Audree Moreno Hernandez, Senior Director of Programs, College Advising Corps
In Audree’s day job, she helps lead College Advising Corps, a national program that matches recent college graduates with high schools in need of college advisors. (The Trinity University CAC program is one of our fantastic nonprofit partners—not a coincidence.) In case you couldn’t guess, she’s passionate about increasing educational opportunities and postsecondary attainment in San Antonio. “I want to contribute my skills, passion, and expertise to help move our city forward and to help eliminate the systemic inequalities that exist for some of our most vulnerable citizens,” Audree says.
Jeanne Russell, Principal, Mission Street Consulting
Jeanne just can’t shake SA2020, and we couldn’t be happier about it. A former education policy advisor to Mayor Julián Castro, Jeanne became SA2020’s Chief Strategist when we became a nonprofit organization in 2013. She is now the owner and cofounder of Mission Street Consulting, where she helped design and launch the San Antonio Education Partnership’s Upgrade and led SA2020’s Talent Pipeline Task Force. Like we said, she really can’t get rid of us.
Michelle Garcia Shaw, Attorney, Curney, Farmer, House, Osuna & Jackson
Michelle stays busy even when she’s out of the office, volunteering her time to her neighborhood Davis Scott YMCA and serving at her church. Motivated by civic engagement, she’s also working to create a forum to educate voters ahead of the 2018 municipal election—an idea we love. “I want to be part of the movement that helps improve our city and the lives of our neighbors,” Michelle says.
Ty Sheehan, Attorney, Hornberger Fuller & Garza
Ty, a San Antonio native, loves his hometown and is thoroughly involved in making it even stronger. He has served in nearly every leadership position of the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association and was a founding Board member of the Leadership Organization of Professionals (LOOP). Ty was also a founding member of San Antonio’s chapter of Young Texans Against Cancer, and is currently a member of the Tobin Center’s Ghost Light Society, the San Antonio Zoo Zoomers, the San Antonio Public Library Foundation’s First Edition Society, and the Witte Museum’s Witte Society Steering Committee—phew. “I hope that my record of involvement with various organizations in this community reflect the way I feel about this great city,” he says. David Snowden, Senior Vice President, Group Communications and Public Relations, Argo Group
David brings his communications and evaluation expertise to SA2020. He echoes our commitment to sharing transparent community data, saying, “If it doesn’t get measured, it typically doesn’t get done.” David was looking for an opportunity for more hands-on community involvement, and we’re so glad he’s found it in SA2020.
