Are You Ready for the May 5th Election?

It’s a big year for voting. In addition to the primary, runoff, and general midterm elections, several local municipalities and jurisdictions will hold elections on May 5th—and early voting is already underway! Here’s what you need to know:

What’s on the ballot?

If you live in one of the following municipalities, you will vote on representatives and/or propositions: Alamo Heights, Balcones Heights, Castle Hills, Elmendorf, Fair Oaks Ranch, Grey Forest, Helotes, Town of Hollywood Park, Kirby, Leon Valley, Olmos Park, Shavano Park, Somerset, Terrell Hills, Universal City and Windcrest. Click here to enter your address and see your own personalized ballot.

If you live in Northside ISD, you’ll see a school bond on your ballot. Click here to see your ballot.

If you live in Bexar County, you might see Alamo Community College District trustees on your ballot, and/or a proposition for Bexar County Emergency Services. These are both based on where you live. Click here to see your ballot.

When can I vote?

Election Day is Saturday, May 5th. Early voting runs from Monday, April 23rd through Tuesday, May 1st. Click here to see the early voting hours.

Where do I vote?

As always, you can vote at ANY location during early voting. Click here to see a list of options. On Election Day, you must vote at your precinct’s polling location. Click here to find your assigned polling location.

What do I need to bring?

The short answer: if you have a Texas or US photo identification (can be expired up to 4 years), bring that. The long answer: if you don’t have government-issued photo identification available, you can show another form of identification and sign a verified declaration at your polling place. Get more info here.

What if my voter information doesn’t match my identification?

The address on your identification does NOT have to match your address on your voter registration information. If your name does not exactly match your name on your voter registration information, election officials will review your identification, and if your name is “substantially similar,” you’ll be allowed to vote (but required to submit an affidavit stating you are the same person on the official list of voters).

How do I register to vote?

The deadline to vote in the May 5th election has passed, but you can register now to vote in upcoming elections! Get a voter registration application here. Check your voter registration here.
