In honor of Mary Kate’s Birthday

  1. Buy a ticket to Movies by Moonlight in the Garden at San Antonio Botanical Garden.
  2. Visit Southbound Coffee – snag a coffee and donate menstrual products for the San Antonio chapter of Periods United.
  3. Get takeout at a Black-owned restaurant for Black Restaurant Week.
  4. Explore the newly christened Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails System.
  5. Shop art supplies from Spare Parts and get creative. 
  6. Visit an art exhibit at Blue Star Contemporary.
  7. Make a list of your favorite local women for Women’s History Month. (We’ve got a few to get you started.)
  8. Volunteer to help MOVE Texas get out the youth vote.
  9. Complete SAY Sí’s community survey.
  10. Visit a local brewery. (Remember all that water they made available during the winter storm?) Here’s a list from San Antonio Magazine to get you started.
  11. Donate blood.
  12. Donate to the SAWS Community Pipe Repair Fund.
  13. Volunteer at the San Antonio Food Bank.
  14. Buy a plant from a local nursery/plant shop. 
  15. Celebrate the Grand Opening of San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum at La Villita. 
  16. Register for the Girls Empowerment Summit.
  17. Purchase a ticket for Empanada by local artist and writer, Anel Flores, at The Public Theater.
  18. Visit a local park.

  20. Stock a local mini pantry.
  21. Check out Limitless at the McNay.
  22. Celebrate San Antonio Museum of Art’s 40th Birthday.
  23. Shop local.
  24. Explore SA2020’s community data and see where you can plug in and move the needle.
  25. Sign up for a 15-minute sampling of online dance classes with Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
  26. Join in on the #ForThePeople Forum by Echü PR and Black Freedom Factory
  27. Register for San Antonio Public Library’s Series Four Moves to Avoid Misinformation.
  28. Check out the Witte Museum’s new virus-killing air filters.  
  29. Listen to portraits of women who are making modern herstory with The Herstory Project.
  30. Take VIA to all these places.

After 12 years of driving progress toward a shared community vision, SA2020, the nonprofit organization, is dissolving. We believe this is the most visionary thing we can do. We made this decision with the greatest care for our organizational values of leadership, community, and accountability, and we hope you’ll read more about it on our blog.

Our website is live with our final data release, showing where San Antonio stands on reaching the shared community vision. The data release is accompanied by our final call to action—a policy agenda for City government based on our unique bird’s-eye view of San Antonio.

While SA2020’s operations ended March 28, these resources, along with the last twelve years of our research and stories, will be available to download from our website through September 2024.
