Elvira is the Assistant Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Elvira has served in various roles with increasing responsibility at UTSA. Currently, she oversees the UTSA Westside Community Center and engages the community with creative partnerships, meaningful connections, and innovative opportunities.
A native of Dallas, Elvira attended the Business Management Center High School and is a first-generation, transfer student and a product of the community college experience by way of El Centro and Alamo Colleges. A dual graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Elvira earned her bachelor’s degree in education as well as her master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She currently studies at the Oblate School of Theology and is pursuing her master’s in pastoral ministry.
Elvira currently serves on the Local State Employee Board of United Way, as the UTSA representative for Texas Women in Higher Education, Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education, and is active with the Women’s Chamber, Prosper West, and South Chambers. She is an alumna of the 35th class of Leadership San Antonio jointly sponsored by the San Antonio Chamber and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber. Elvira enjoys reading, and writing but mostly spends time with her husband on outdoor projects and listening to Tejano, Conjunto, or the wind. Together, they are active at the St. Dominic parish. A human in training, Elvira enjoys her teacher, Rona, a 3-year-old shepherd heeler mix and rescue from San Antonio Pets Alive.
