It’s time to vote—again! In May, San Antonians went to the polls to cast their votes for Mayor, City Council representatives, and some School Board members. Because no candidate in the races for Mayor, City Council Districts 2, 4, and 6 received a majority of votes, San Antonio is holding a runoff election to decide the winners. The two candidates who received the most votes in May have now moved into the runoff.

13% of San Antonians voted in the first round. While that’s actually about twice as much as our voter turnout baseline in 2011, we know that too many of us aren’t participating in this major decision for our community. Below, get the answers to your runoff questions—and then make a plan to vote and bring a person or three with you!

I didn’t vote in the first round. Can I vote in the runoff?

Yes! It doesn’t matter if you didn’t participate in May’s election. All that matters is that you’re registered to vote in San Antonio city limits. Check your registration here.

I voted in the first round. Do I have to vote again?

Yes—votes from the May 8 election do not carry over. You’ll vote again for the top two candidates.

Who’s on the ballot?

When and where do I vote?

Early voting is May 28-June 4, during which you can vote at ANY of the 28 early voting sites. See the locations and hours here. On Election Day, June 8, you must vote at your precinct’s assigned location. Click here to find your polling location.

What if I can’t vote in person?

If you won’t be in Bexar County for Early Voting or Election Day; are 65 years or older; are disabled; or confined in jail but otherwise eligible to vote, you can vote early by mail. Applications must be submitted by May 30th. Mail–in ballots must be in postmarked by June 8th and received by 5:00 pm on June 9th. See how to get a mail-in ballot here.
