Misty Garcia is a problem-solver, a data professional, and a community activist. She loves San Antonio and is excited to be a part of its positive growth and give back to her community.
Misty received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from St. Mary’s University. She worked as an electronic warfare engineer for over eleven years at SRC, Inc. After deciding she needed a career she was more passionate about, she went to a six-month boot camp full time and obtained a certificate of completion in Data Science at Codeup. Misty currently works as a Data Science Instructor at Codeup. Misty is also currently working toward a Masters of Public Health with a focus in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at University of California, Berkeley.
Misty is passionate about social justice and is committed to dismantling systems of oppression and lifting up communities of color. She looks forward to utilizing her data skills to make positive change in the world. Misty is also passionate about reproductive justice. She was previously on the board and Vice President of Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity. She is a current board member of Avow Texas. Misty also enjoys reading, playing board games, hiking, and hanging out with her partner, and her dog, Olive.
