The Saturday after Thanksgiving marks the start of the City of San Antonio’s Buy Local Season, coinciding with Small Business Saturday. These campaigns invite us to consider shifting some of our holiday shopping to local-independent businesses to support our entrepreneurs, workers, and greater economy. According to the City’s Economic Development department, $68 of every $100 spent locally is cycled right back into the community. Shopping local also lessens the impact of travel and shipping on the environment and helps small businesses create new jobs.
Fortunately, San Antonio offers plenty of opportunities to find and support small businesses during the holiday season. We’ve put together a short list of some local markets and festivals that will be filled with unique San Antonio businesses and vendors.
