Social and Health Research Center (SAHRC) supports children, adults, and families in making healthy choices to control chronic disease such as obesity, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes through innovative and evidence-based education programs and health screenings. Children and adults that are able to lead healthy lifestyles are better prepared to thrive in school and at work, while avoiding potentially burdensome medical costs. SAHRC offers a TEA-approved Coordinated School Health Program (CSHP) that provides schools with the educational materials to teach children and their families the importance of chronic disease prevention. SAHRC's Adult curriculum is used in community centers, schools, wellness worksites, and in physician practices. By working across the many social determinants of health and targeting preventative care, SAHRC impacts the health of the community for generations.
