How San Antonio Pets Alive! impacts San Antonio's shared Community Vision
San Antonio Pets Alive is a life-saving organization that rescues dogs and cats at risk of being euthanized. Their mission is to save these animals after all other options have been exhausted.
San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA!) helps to keep neighborhoods safe by housing animals that may pose a behavioral danger or health risk to residents, other pets, or wildlife. In addition to helping improve the conditions for all persons to engage safely in public spaces, SAPA! is also providing some individuals and families the opportunity to experience the benefits of caring for a pet.
Studies have shown that the bond between people and their pets can increase fitness, lower stress, and bring happiness to their owners. The Center for Disease Control cites the health benefits of having a pet include decreased blood pressure, cholesterol levels, triglyceride levels, and feelings of loneliness.
San Antonio Pets Alive is committed to educating the public on topics related to responsible pet ownership, the benefits of pet ownership, animal safety, immunizations, and disease control – all information that enhances an individual’s or family’s experience as pet owner, as well as increases the chances for dog or cat will enjoy a humane life.
In addition to receiving routine veterinary care, all animals treated by SAPA! will be spayed or neutered to end a cycle of unsustainable reproduction, which helps to mitigate the health and safety issues associated with feral animals.
