How San Antonio AIDS Foundation impacts San Antonio's shared Community Vision

The San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF) was founded in 1986 to provide hospice care to individuals with AIDS and has since evolved into a multi-disciplinary health care provider. SAAF envisions a community free of stigma related to HIV and other STIs. SAAF leads with health education and the understanding that sexual health is crucial to overall health. They offer testing and treatment for HIV and STIs, as well as prevention education in local public schools, colleges and universities, adult probation facilities and teen detention programs. Their compassionate continuum of care for people living with HIV includes case management, mental health counseling, medical care, housing, a year-round hot meal program, and more. SAAF conducts more than 4000 HIV tests each year. In 2020, SAAF served over 1,500 people and provided over 10,000 individuals prevention education. SAAF is Bexar County’s oldest and most comprehensive professionally managed organization that provides services for those people living with HIV in Bexar and 11 surrounding counties and is now providing expanded care for STIs.
