How Las Casas Foundation impacts San Antonio's shared Community Vision

After restoring the Majestic and Charline McCombs Empire Theatres, Las Casas Performing Arts Scholarship Program was created to ensure the future of the performing arts by providing talented students financial assistance for higher education. Las Casas awards $100,000 in scholarships annually to college-bound high school students who excel in acting, dancing and singing. Another educational program to encourage student's interests in the performing arts is "Behind the Scenes," designed to give high school students from partnering after-school programs, a full range of theater experiences, from attending workshops with cast members from touring Broadway shows to visiting college campuses and learning about the possibilities of their future. The Foundation's work is helping San Antonio reach the SA2020 vision because Las Casas is about arts and culture, downtown San Antonio, and most of all, education.
