How Gemini Ink impacts San Antonio's shared Community Vision

As San Antonio's independent writing arts center, Gemini Ink's mission is to teach the craft of writing to people of all skill levels so they can bring their stories to life. Gemini Ink believes everyone has a story and writing that story is powerful. When people learn the four pillars of writing, they learn the power of the craft of writing. When they learn the power of the craft of writing, they bring their stories to life. Gemini Ink's strategic vision is to inspire 12,000 people to bring their stories to life by 2024. Their goal is to bring imaginative, interactive and craft-based creative writing workshops to all San Antonians so we can celebrate, empower and amplify the diverse stories of our city. For 28 years, Gemini Ink has supported a literacy-literary trajectory in the city, cultivating supportive spaces where we can grow the thinkers, writers, and creative leaders of today and tomorrow. In addition to creative writing workshops led by published writers, Gemini Ink hosts free public readings by nationally and internationally recognized authors, open-mic nights, a monthly virtual book club called The Big Texas Read, and a Mentorship Program. Gemini Ink also brings free writing workshops to underserved communities throughout San Antonio through our Partner Classes. They directly serve 2500-3000 individuals a year.
