Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM)

How Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) impacts San Antonio's shared Community Vision

CAM work helps our community reach the SA2020 goals by reducing the rate of recidivism, reduces the family displacement/homelessness rate, and increases access to healthcare. CAM works with many individuals just recently released from prison or jail. CAM provides the important funding to help with ID recovery (required for employment and housing). This is often a very huge issue for those working on re-entry. CAM also provides clothing and even supplies for work (work uniform, tools, or work boots). CAM provides a month bus pass for those who have found a job. The ID and help with job requirements is essential for reducing recidivism; helping to remove barriers that can ultimately result in re-incarceration. CAM provides financial assistance to many families in order to avoid eviction. This is critical to many who may be having a short term crisis (i.e. job loss, injury, illness), that can be resolved with this one time financial help and avoid further crisis through eviction. Increase access to healthcare: CAM provides financial assistance for prescriptions and bus tickets to medical appointments.
