Downtown housing units grew by 260% between 2010 and 2011, far surpassing the 2020 goal.
The City of San Antonio's Center City Housing Incentive Policy (CCHIP) provides more insight into housing development in Downtown San Antonio.
This measure provides a means to track whether there is enough housing for downtown residents, but not necessarily the livability of downtown. As such, SA2020 recommends that this indicator continue to be tracked and reported by Center City Development and Operations Department, and will remove it from the 2030 Community Vision starting in 2021.
Increase new housing units by 7,500 (10,804 by 2020)
